س1: هل لسماحتكم مذهب فقهي خاص وما هو منهجكم في الفتوى والأدلة؟
ج1: مذهبي في الفقه هو مذهب الإمام أحمد بن حنبل رحمه الله وليس على سبيل التقليد ولكن على سبيل الاتباع في الأصول التي سار عليها، أما مسائل الخلاف فمنهجي فيها هو ترجيح ما يقتضي الدليل ترجيحه والفتوى بذلك سواء وافق ذلك مذهب الحنابلة أم خالفه، لأن الحق أحق بالاتباع، وقد قال الله عز وجل
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْكُمْ فَإِنْ تَنَازَعْتُمْ فِي شَيْءٍ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَالرَّسُولِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ ذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَحْسَنُ تَأْوِيلًا

Question: Do you Esteemed Shaikh follow a specific madh-hab and what is the methodology that you give the fatwa upon and deal with proofs?
Answer: My madh-hab in Fiqh is the madh-hab of Imām Ahmad bin Hanbal رحمه ﷲ, not on the methodology of Taqlīd rather it’s is by following him in his foundations (Usūl) in extracting rulings from fiqh which he took. As for the issues of Fiqh that have differences of opinions, my method in dealing with those is that I choose that which is substantiated with the proof, and then I give rulings based upon that which I’ve selected from that, whether or not it agrees with the opinion of the Hanbalī Madhab or goes against it, That is because the truth is more worthy of being followed, And Allah Says:
“O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And If you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the las day. That is the best way and best in result”

Anyone know what madhab Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzan follows?
Shaikh Sālih al-Fawzān is Hanbalī as he has clearly stated himself:
“But concerning the fatwa, giving the verdicts and laws, then these are based upon the fiqh al-Hanbalī. Because this is the madh-hab of our fatwa here, and it is the madhab of the leaders in this area. And this is not something that is strange. Because every dawlaa, every nation, every country, follows a path. And as long as this madh-hab that they follow is not contradictory to the Book and the Sunnah, then it is not contradicting, and there is no problem.”
